Back from the Philippines

Back from the Philippines

'm back almost 10 days now.  I've been telling too many of you in person that jet lag wasn't a big problem, and so I can't use that as an excuse for the long delay in writing a home-coming post.  I will just say that it took a lot of energy to settle back in, to organize the 3/21 service, to get things in order of the April Communitarian, and to make sure family and cats were well.  I have done some picture organizing, but there is still a lot to do to get my thoughts together from the trip.

It was an amazing trip.  On the one hand, it was difficult because of the 95 degree heat and the tight quarters in the van.  The travel organizers did a fantastic job, but they were blind-sided at the last minute and did not get the vehicles that they hoped to have.  They indicate that riding conditions can be better on future trips, and I want you to know this, because I want CUC members to think about making a trip there next year.  All in all, the trip provided a unique opportunity to see another part of the world, both in geography and in living condition.  We went to villages that visitors never see, and we were welcomed to those villages as kindred souls, because we were UU.   Quite an experience.

I will show more pictures and talk more about the day-to-day story of the trip at a forum after the service on April 11.  And through the coming months, I will be telling you how we can all be more engaged with the UU congregation in Doldol.
